Course Description

Walking Group Leader Training Who is the course for? Experienced walkers who wish to progress into teaching others and leading in moorland areas. You must have an interest in moorland walking, visited at least three moorland areas and have a total of 20 moorland days. You need to have registered with the MLTE and you must be at least 18 years of age. What will I study on the course? Navigation, personal equipment, group equipment, ropework skills, group management and campcraft. What other skills will I acquire? A wider understanding of walking ethics and history. What makes this course special? A ratio of one instructor to six candidates ensures you are given the personal attention you deserve. How will I be assessed? The assessment is another 60 hour course which is taken after successful completion of the training and further experience. How long is the course? The training course is 60 hours, normally over a week. The assessment is separate. What can I do on completion of this course? Assist fully qualified instructors in order to gain the additional group experience required to take the assessment. What can I do in addition to this course? The Single Pitch Award course. How much will it cost? The price for this course is on application.
