Course Description

Stone Therapy is a useful progression for existing Massage therapists, those offering stress relief treatments and working in fields where the application of hot or cold stimulus to the muscles is beneficial. This technique uses specific types of stones at different temperatures (generally basalt stones are used with hot temperatures and marble for cold stone work) in contact with the skin in order to increase the effects of massage with the aim of improving relaxation and creating balance within the body therefore improving the client's sense of well-being. This course will cover the following: Uses, effects and benefits of hot and cold History of massage with stones Contra-indications and contra-actions Safe and effective massage techniques Safe use of stones at different temperatures Energy work with the stones Case studies Health and Safety We have invested in the very latest equipment for students to use and incorporate into their treatments whilst attending our centre. The basalt and marble stones we use are of the highest quality and have been specially sourced and supplied to us by La Stone Therapy UK. Our stone heater is of top quality and has a built in digitally operated thermostat which can be controlled to ensure that the temperature of the stones is regulated at a constant and safe temperature. We also have a matching aluminium cooling unit which helps keep the marble stones colder for more efficient deeper tissue work. This course covers the following units: VR17 Prepare for and provide body massage VR 59 Provide holistic facial massage VR173 Prepare for and provide stone therapy VR02 Support Health, Safety and Security in the Workplace VR74 Support Employment Standards This Diploma also includes the VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Health, Safety, Security and Employment Standards. This course is a mandatory part of all Holistic and Sports Therapy courses. If however you have already gained this Diploma in the last 3 years you will not have to complete it again providing evidence can be shown. Assessment: This qualification requires the candidate to provide evidence of competence in the form of case studies or individual treatments to cover range statements, and demonstrate sufficient knowledge to be able to explain stone therapy and provide it safely, effectively and consistently. Independent study is an essential part of this course and you will be required to complete both practical and theoretical assignments at home. Assessments will take place during the course and on the final assessment day. Course fees: Your Investment is ?299 which includes all VTCT registration and certification fees. If you have already registered with VTCT this will be reduced by ?15 and if you have already gained the VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Health, Safety, Security and Employment Standards in the last 3 years this will be reduced by a further ?16. 9:30am ? 5:30pm (including refreshment breaks and lunch) Places are limited to 2 so early booking is advisable.
