Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide professionals with theoretical knowledge about relationships within a family context. Delegates should have some prior experience of working with families e.g. social workers, homestart volunteers, clergy, prison officers, mediation workers. This course will also appeal to practice nurses, community psychiatric nurses, school nurses, health visitors, social workers and personnel advisors. Aims of the course include: understanding the range of problems faced by the family, communication skills, how to improve a family atmosphere, the effects of loss and bereavement, the needs of reconstituted families and recognising the role of sex and sexuality in relationships.
