Course Description

The SuppleSpine Programme for back care Do you often have clients complaining of back strain? Do your clients stiffen up through stress, the demands of work, lack of activity, a sedentary lifestyle, or from awkward bending and twisting practices, or sudden or unfamiliar bursts of activity that put pressure on the back (such as DIY)? Does your massage tend only to minimise their discomfort without reducing, or reversing this accumulation of tension? This course is designed to teach massage therapists how to use the SuppleSpine exercises with clients to help them establish a self-maintenance home programme. The exercises consist of specific movements which are done without pain or strain . They are designed to increase suppleness through rediscovering the natural flexibilty of the back, either after a problem episode, or a lifetime of stiffening up. This is followed by practical input to develop awareness of one?s back in action , which helps people to reduce or avoid recurrences of problems. In order to offer integrated treatment sessions, the course also covers specific deep massage to release back tensions and mobilising movements for the trunk to complement the exercises. The course includes a review of the relevant anatomy and movements of the trunk, which underpins the massage treatment and the exercises. It also looks at how best to sequence a series of treatments.
