Agriculture The Kidding Goat Myerscough reference: 09XXKIDCMS01P Start Date Wednesday 17 February 2010 Times: 9.00 am - 4.00 pm 1 Weekend (SatSun) Venue: Cockerham Boers Farm About the Course This course has been designed for the complete beginner who wishes to learn about the care of either a pet or meat production goats. The 2 day course includes both theory and hands on practical in many of the routine tasks required when keeping goats. The course can be tailored to the needs of the participants and their goat keeping plans with an emphasis on meat production. Similar topics will be covered as in the 1 day basic goat keeping day such as healthy and sick goats, routine treatments, ear tagging and foot trimming, Also covered will be specifics more directly involved with meat production, such as selection, rearing meat goats, meat cuts and marketing. In addition specific topics relating to the breeding season, covering everything from tupping time to the first few days after kids are born. The course dates are specially selected to run during the kidding season and whilst we cannot guarantee a kidding will happen there is a very high chance of this occurring! This will then give the participant an opportunity to experience the all important practical element. The course is run in partnership with renowned producers and one of the countries longest established goat meat herds. Fees ?140.00
