Course Description

Successful teams depend on their members working well together towards shared goals and objectives. Each member needs to appreciate team dynamics, value the complementary contribution of others and maintain motivation to achieve goals - particularly when the going gets tough. This course provides an opportunity for all individuals to review their relationships and roles within the various teams in which they participate and develop the skills and approaches they need to help the team work effectively together. Course Outline What makes an effective team? Group dynamics and team formation Conflict and conformity in groups - ?group think' Contributing to team discussions and problem solving Team roles Building rapport and relationships Communication skills Understanding motivation in self and others Developing resilience Helping the team to develop (understanding team building processes) Managing communications and relationships beyond the team Understanding objectives and progressing towards targets Course Methods A varied and enjoyable programme combining informal lecture, discussion, team activities and self-analysis questionnaires. The course can also be adapted and contextualised to give special emphasis to the topics of greatest importance to you and to adjust to your organisation's culture. Pre Course Questionnaires & Other Preparation To help us get to know you and understand your training needs and particular interests, we will send you a pre-course questionnaire by e-mail two weeks prior to the course. This is an easy to fill word document. Please e-mail this back to your course tutor following the instructions on the form and bring a copy with you. For some courses you may be asked to do some preparation in advance. For others it is suggested that you may find it useful to bring samples of your own work with you. Bringing a laptop or calculator is never essential but can be useful. Above all we want you to bring an open mind.
