INDICATIVE MODULE CONTENTS 1) Environmental Science (including impacts on health and eco systems) 2) Energy (efficiency, auditing, thermal modelling) 3) Sustainability (3 elements of, context, industry perspectives) 4) Legislation (UK and European) 5) Environmental management systems and auditing. 6) Waste and Resource Efficiency (including the regulators perspective) 7) Assessment Tools (Life Cycle Assessment, footprinting) 8) Environmental monitoring and measurement. THE AIMS OF THE MODULE ARE To enable students to explore and develop understanding of the need for sustainable development and to place this in an industrial context. To deliver and support the acquisition of up to date knowledge on environmental legislation and environmental management systems. To enable students to develop an understanding of several key issues and practical techniques including environmental monitoring and measurement, environmental audit and waste management. To develop independent thinking and modes of self learning in respect of sustainable development and to consider a number of perspectives. Start Time: 8.30am each day. Finish: 5.30pm each day.
