Course Description

This is a 1 day Lantra Awards Integrated Training and Assessment (ITA) course and successful candidates will receive a Certificate of Training and an ID card. The aims and objectives of this course are that at the end of the course candidates will be able to: Produce a site specific Risk Assessment for stump grinding operations. State the principles of HSE legislation and safety guidelines for using a stumpgrinder. Select the appropriate PPE and state the maintenance requirements Carry out operator checks and identify the safety features of a stump grinder. Carry out routine operator maintenance. Inspect and identify defects on the grinding mechanism. Prepare machine prior to operation, start the machine, carry out safety checks and stop machine. Prepare a work area and a range of stumps for grinding and identify hazardous materials not to be ground. Use approved techniques for safe and efficient stump grinding of a range of stump sizes. State the procedure for removing blockages. Re-instate ground and deal with arisings. .Prepare machine for transport and storage. Courses are held at our training centre based in Dorking, Surrey. Land Skills Training offers excellent facilities. Our training centre/classroom and workshop are brick built with central heating, toilets, wash facilities and disabled access. We have separate tea/coffee/refreshment room. Nearby we have our training site where we carry out all our ?on site? practical training - a 520 hectare (1300 acre) mixture of woodland, grassland and farmland set in the picturesque Surrey Hills. Alternatively if you have a suitable site we can arrange to send an instructor out to you. We have instructors available to help individuals or groups work towards NPTC qualification or Lantra Awards based Integrated Training and Assessment.
