A sponsored MSc by research in development of methods for structural health monitoring based on Nonlinear Ultrasound Spectroscopy is available in the School of Engineering ? Crashworthiness Impact and Structural Mechanics Group. This position involves the development of numerical and experimental techniques for damage detection and implementation of hardware and software systems for monitoring of aerospace structures. Documentation of test results is very important. The individual will be expected to work closely with the other group members. The degree awarded is an MSc by Research Required Qualification Suitable candidates ideally should have sound background in dynamic material testing, mathematics, programming and be familiar with the linear and non-linear finite element method.
