Course Description

The entry requirement for this Sports Massage course is a recognised qualification in anatomy, physiology and massage or equivalent. (If you are an MSCM massage student you are able to book your place and start this course before you have the results of your Massage exam.) Physiotherapists, Sports Scientists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors and other health professionals may also attend ? some supplementary massage training may be necessary. The main purpose of sports massage therapy is to help alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body?s soft tissues during physical activity. Where minor injuries and lesions occur, due to overexertion andor overuse, massage can break them down quickly and effectively. The massage will help to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility, to prevent injuries and in the case of sports people, prepare for peak performance. This unique innovative course with its modular design offers you a flexible approach giving you the opportunity to learn and complete the course at your own pace. The course consists of three home study modules which can be started at any time, three foundation sports therapy massage modules and five therapeutic sports massage techniques modules. (14 days attendance in total.) In addition you will be allocated a Sports Massage Therapy tutor to offer you support and mentoring throughout the duration of the course.
