Course Description

This one-day workshop will provide clinical coders with an awareness of SNOMED CT , the relationship with classifications and the role of the clinical coder. Potential learning outcomes: Appreciate the use of SNOMED CT coded data as part of the electronic health record within the NHS Care Records Service Understand the overarching structure of SNOMED CT Understand the relationship between SNOMED CT and the ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications Understand basic cross mapping principles and potential role of the clinical coder Understand the updating and release cycle for local organisations Appreciate additional types of clinical data able to be captured in SNOMED CT Opportunity to use the Clinical Terms Browser in demonstration mode Benefits to the delegate and employer: Provision of an optimal learning environment.
