Sheep Husbandry Cost 175 Duration Eight weeks, one evening a week About the Course A combination of lectures and practical sessions designed for those who have just started to keep sheep, are considering keeping sheep or for people who have a general interest in sheep. Participants will receive a Writtle College Certificate of Attendance. Topics to be covered include Sheep Breeds, Terminology, Stratification, Selection of breeding stock, male and female, Purchasing stock, Health Plans and signs of health and ill health, Vet / Med administration, Storage, Recording etc, The Shepherds Calendar, Feeding, Winter when housed, Summer grazing, Creep feeding lambs, The pregnant and lactating ewe, Mating, Lambing and care of the new born lamb, Condition Scoring, Foot trimming, Worming, Temperature taking and General Handling.
