Course Content About the Senior Clinical Leaders' Programme The NHS East of England Senior Clinical Leaders? Programme aims to build a cadre of senior clinical leaders who are fully equipped to meet the improvement challenges facing health care systems and will also play an important and influential role in the leadership of NHS organisations across the region. Over the past year, this successful programme took 98 senior clinical leaders on a development journey and was recognised in the regional 2008 Health and Social Care Awards. The East of England health system is undergoing dramatic changes designed to make real improvements in patient care and to be more responsive to patient needs. ?Towards the Best Together? sets out the ambition of the East of England to provide exemplar health services. It is clear that if these changes are to be implemented swiftly, effectively and to deliver their intended benefits to patients and the workforce, new knowledge, skills and leadership will be required. Content of the programme You will receive: The opportunity to identify personal leadership development needs using a 360 degree feedback tool etailed feedback on your development needs and support in identifying the right learning methods and opportunities to address them The opportunity to take part in 3-4 masterclasses with world class speakers on a range of topics. Up to three individual sessions with a personal coach who will help you to focus on actions and changes that will make a lasting difference to your leadership and outlook The chance to apply new knowledge and leadership skills to a practical ?TtBT? focussed project Up to four action learning set meetings on the theme of Leading in Healthcare Organisations. Facilitated by development professionals with knowledge and experience of current NHS issues, the sets will help you to focus on the leadership challenges you face Networking and learning opportunities at launch and closure events Access to a range of development opportunities to help you plan your future learning Access to Dialogue East the bespoke EoE social networking software Who will run the programme? The programme will be run by Stefan Cantore and his team from the Office for Public Management (OPM), a not-for-profit public interest company that provides leadership and organisational development and research across the public sector. OPM?s approach to leadership development in the NHS focuses on experiential or action learning using real life issues facing senior clinical leaders while supporting them to ?raise their sights? about what is possible and desirable. OPM?s clients range from the Department of Health, Department for Education and Skills to SHAs, PCTs, NHS Trusts, independent sector providers and charities. How much time will SCLP take? To get the most out of this programme participants are asked to make the following commitment: One day to plan, undertake and receive the 360 degree review A one day launch event Three half day masterclasses and four half days for your action learning set (3.5 days in total) Up to three two hour coaching sessions Select and undertake a ?TtBT? project designed to challenge and apply your new found leadership skills Networking and discussion with other programme participants on an informal basis A one day learning and sharing event to close the formal part of the programme Therefore a total of 9 days over a 7 month period. How much will the programme cost? NHS East of England are investing ?3m per annum in leadership development and this enables the costs to organisations to be subsidised. Your organisation will therefore need to contribute ?1000 per participant and find the additional funding for travel costs and locum cover (should this be needed).
