Course Description

This course is designed for anyone who leads groups in open, wild or mountainous country in the U.K. It is ideally suited to teachers, youth workers and those who work in the outdoors. This course meets or exceeds the criteria laid down by the following governing bodies: MLTE for ( WGL, ML, SPA) Sportsleaders UK, BCU & many other National Sports Governing Bodies. The course is a minimum of 16 hours (2 days) contact time and covers Legislation and Duty of Care Mountain expedition First Aid equipment Assessing and prioritizing an incident in remote areas Unconscious casualty Resuscitation Bleeding and shock Fractures Heat disorders Common outdoor ailments (blisters, sunburn etc) Search and rescue Mountain rescue and calling for help Asthma Diabetes Epilepsy Heart conditions The above list is an outline. The full programme will be sent before commencement of the course. The course will be a mixture of theory and practical OUTDOOR sessions. You should bring suitable clothing.
