Course Description

Quidos is an ABBE (Awarding Body for the Built Environment) approved training centre. Structuring our courses in accordance with the guidelines provided by ABBE, we aim to provide you with consistently high-quality training throughout the duration of your diploma. About the Diploma The DipDEC L3 course is structured to include both classroom-tuition and distance-learning elements. During the initial 1-day classroom training period you will receive guidance on how to correctly input data into the relevant software programme. Diploma Structure The Quidos Display Energy Certificate (DEC) training course is run over one day. All candidates are required to have either gained their L3 Non-Domestic Energy Assessor (NDEA) qualification or be in the process of doing so, as the training day is geared around the assumption that candidates are familiar with the building services and commercial building construction aspects of the NDEA course. The content covered includes: ? Principles of Operational Ratings and calculation ? The structure of the software ? Data assembly and input rules ? Entering Area and Energy usage details ? Assessing the property and creating detailed Advisory Reports ? Generating the DEC and AR including lodgement ? Details of ABBE portfolio requirements and assessor information supplied Following this training period, the distance-learning elements of the training are incorporated within two forms of assessment. These require you to: ? Pass an exam based on the L3 DEC course syllabus. The exam consists of multiple choice questions and requires a score of 70% to pass. ? Submit a portfolio of three Display Energy Certificates on a range of existing commercial properties (DECs). Candidates will be required to produce each one of these DECs up to current industry standard. In order to assist you in the revision for your exam and completion of your portfolio, you will be allocated an assessor who will provide you with guided learning advice and assistance on all the technical issues you will come across during the completion of your diploma. Post Qualification To practice as a public building energy assessor, you will need to be accredited through a government-authorised body. Quidos operates one of these accreditation schemes and having taken your training through us you will automatically qualify. Quidos accreditation for public building energy assessors is free of charge. Cost of the course The course will cost 995 GBP excluding VAT and includes: ? ABBE registration fee of 290 GBP ?
