PSYCHOLOGY IntermediateGCSE Level 2 course One year Progression AS levels Exam board OCR 5 periods a week This course is offered within the Society, Health & Professional Studies Division Course outline Understanding human behaviour through the study of a variety of approaches in psychology covering the approaches of social psychology behavioural psychology, developmental psychology, individual differences, cognitive psychology and bio-psychology. Within each approach two topics are covered. You will consider topics like why people are aggressive, how we are influenced by our friends, and why we get stressed sometimes. Teaching styles Discussions will be very important to make Psychology topics relevant to you. Group work, teacher led sessions and presentations will also play a part in covering the course. You will also have the opportunity to carry out independent research to complete your coursework investigation. Assessment Two papers each 1.15 minutes 40% of overall grade respectively. One piece of coursework 20% respectively. Key features If you want to take the first steps to gaining a greater understanding of yourself and the people around you then this course is for you. You will not be taught by a number of teaching staff, instead you will have a dedicated and experienced member of staff solely focused on your course achievement. Progression Any social sciences course, but particularly relevant to advanced courses in psychology, sociology, health and social care. Careers which focus strongly on effective interactions with others e.g. psychology, health field, teaching.
