Psychology: AS and A2 Level In covering many aspects of human behaviour, Psychology is seen as a subject having a strong emphasis on scientific investigation and observation, so it provides a useful link between arts and science subjects. Course details The course addresses questions relating to the causes and treatment of mental illness, human behaviour and the mechanisms and processes of the mind. It tries to answer such questions as why we forget, how we remember and the exact nature of stress and its relationship to illness. How is it assessed? You will be assessed through exams for each unit: two in the AS year and two in the A2 year. Course duration One year at AS level. One year at A2 level. What do I need to study this subject? You should have five GCSE grades A*-C or the equivalent at one sitting, including English Language, Science and Mathematics. BTEC First, if used as part of the equivalent, must be at Merit or above. Where can this lead me? Psychology is useful for many careers including law, social work, advertising and business management. It is accepted as an entry requirement for all degrees, including medicine. What are the enrichment opportunities? There are conferences and revision days, and you will have opportunities to interact with the course examiners and leading researchers.
