Course Description

Practical Horse Clipping Most horses need to be clipped during the winter to ensure that when they are working, they do not sweat excessively and become wet and cold following exercise. Clipping can be a challenging task if you are not aware of how to approach it safely using the correct techniques. Please bring a packed lunch and wear either wellies or riding boots along with old clothes! By the end of the workshop you should be able to: Outline the Health and Safety requirements for clipping horses Understand the reasons for clipping and identify different types of clip Identify the parts of the clipping machine and outline the correct procedure for use Be able to prepare a horse for clipping Demonstrate basic clipping skills Progression: Following this course, students may like to practice their clipping skills with some assistance if required.
