Course Description

Content: From the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, Regulation 4 - Systems, Work Activities and Protective Equipment, there is a requirement for safe systems of work to be adopted, relating to the use and maintenance of electrical systems. Although 'PAT' is not a legal requirement under this regulation, it is recognised as meeting the requirement as part of a maintenance program, to ensure electrical devices do not become dangerous. The course can be provided to 3 levels 1. User Visual Inspection (non-electrical personnel) 2. Formal Inspection and Testing (basic electrical skills, stores, technicians responsible for maintenance) 3. Full course leading to C&G 2377 (electrically competent personnel) Please contact to discuss your requirement. Content: The course provides an overview of the legal responsibilities and requirements, their purpose, and definitions. Examples of levels of application are examined and includes practical exercises in testing of portable and transportable electrical equipment. If required, the course can extend to recording data records, using proprietry PAT software. The content can be adapted as an overview to a basic level of competence for personnel, without knowledge of electrical principles, but required to execute visual inspection e.g. office environment Objectives: On completion of the course participants will be able to: ? demonstrate an awareness of the legal responsibilities ? interpret relevant definitions ? recognise potential hazards relating to electrical appliances ? apply practical testing procedures ? develop a maintenance regime for control and testing of portable electrical equipment
