Course Description

BSc (Hons) Podiatry Mode: full-time Programme content: You will study the following modules: Level 1 Clinical Practice 1, Anatomy and Biomechanics I, Physiology, Dermatology, Clinical Theory I and Study Skills. Level 2 Clinical Practice II, Clinical Theory, Methods of Investigation, Podiatric Medicine, Musculoskeletal Medicine and Biomechanics II. Level 3 Clinical Practice III, Podiatric Surgery, Professional Studies, Integrated Podiatric Studies and Research Project. Progression opportunities: There are opportunities in specialist areas such as sports medicine, diabetic foot care, wound care, rheumatology, podiatric surgery and the care of the young and the elderly. Many students continue their studies at masters and PhD level. Career opportunities: Graduates from the Durham School of Podiatric Medicine are considered to be very employable. Your knowledge and skills allow you to seek employment within the NHS, private practice and industry. Study hours: Approximately 22 hours per week Monday to Friday. Access to Higher Education This programme has been designed to give mature students the skills and knowledge necessary to progress onto this programme by offering a podiatry route.
