Course Description

This programme is a part-time, two-year course organised by the Department of Infectious Diseases and Immunity in conjunction with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. This new programme is designed to give nurses, allied health professionals and healthcare managers an overview of infection and infectious diseases, the management of infection and general management skills and research skills. The academic links and valuable health services research expertise of the Centre for Infection Prevention and Management and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, together with Imperial College's international reputation for clinical research, offers a potentially unparalleled range of lectures for those attending the course. As such, graduates of the course can expect to have obtained a full understanding of the key issues surrounding the management of infection in today's healthcare environment. Modules include: Introduction to Infection in Modern Society Management of Major Clinical Syndromes Control of Infection Research Design and Epidemiology Organisational Healthcare Management The options to study for a Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma are also available.
