UNIVERSITY OF ULSTER CERTIFICATE IN COUNSELLING STUDIES Who is this course for? This course aims to introduce students to the knowledge and skills which underpin the counselling process. It is designed for both people who are interested in the subject for either personal or professional development, as well as those who are beginning study as part of the process of becoming a professionally accredited counsellor. Modules covered include: personal development and interpersonal skills the helping relationship practical application of the helping relationship. How long is this course for? 30 weeks, 1 evening per week Attendance Part-Time How will I be assessed? Assessment takes the form of coursework, case studies, and a reflective journal. Recorded role play will be used to assess practical skills. What can I do after the course? Students who wish to develop their counselling skills further can proceed to the University of Ulster Foundation Degree in Counselling. Students can also undertake studies in other areas such as HNCD Health and Social Care, or qualifications in child care.
