Trimming and Plaiting - Preparing Horses for Showing Level: 2 Location: BH Years: 1 Course Summary This is a weekend course where you will have the opportunity to learn how to trim up and prepare a horse for the show or competition ring. The course covers mane and tail pulling and plaiting, how to use a pair of trimming clippers, perfecting your scissoring technique and those finishing touches. As with the clipping course, you will have plenty of hands-on practice. How will I be assessed? How much time will I spend on the course? 6 hours How is the course delivered? 6 hours classroom and practically based, mainly practical. Who is this course suitable for? Anybody who wants to have further knowledge on plaiting or trimming or someone who is preparing for the BHS Stage 2 Exam. What are mandatory modules or units? What materials do I have to provide? To participate you need equine safety equipment: riding hat to current BSI standard (currently PAS015 or EN1384), suitable footwear for going on the yard and gloves. Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required? See above. What can I do after this course? Introduction to Clipping, Trailer Driving (must hold full DVLA Licence). What careers would this course be useful for? Equine.
