Stonemasonry ICA Level 2 Block Release Dates: Sept 2009 - June 2011 / 68 wks Times: 9.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m. Day: Monday to Friday (Finish 12.45 on Friday) Pattern: Block Release Venue: Cranford Avenue 2 Year Programme Aim of Course The course is desined to prepare you to embark upon a career in Stonemasonry. It has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions and assessment is based on you showing your ability in these areas. Entry Requirements Course Details/Contents The Intermediate Construction Award is made up of the following units: Erect and Dismantle Basic Working Platforms Set Out Templets and Moulds Store Materials and Equipment Work Efficiently Working Stone Additional Contents Abrasive Wheels CSCS Health and Safety Test Employment Rights and Responsibilities Key Skills Level 1 (Application of Number and Communication) NVQ Work Based Evidence Materials/Text Book Requirements Materials Essential Foot Protection, Safety Boots (Sturdy) The wearing of Safety Boots is mandatory in the workshop. Eye Protection Overalls Stationery, A4 Ring Binder, A4 Lined Paper, Pens, Pencils, Tape Measure, Calculator Masonry Tools - List from lecturer Materials Desirable: Drawing Instruments - see tutor for list Study Requirements Practical training for assessment takes place within the Stonemasonry Workshop. Work Based Evidence Diary. Assessment/Examination Details There is continuous assessment throughout the course, e.g. training followed by assessment of tasks in each unit along with written papers to assess knowledge and a final Phase Test. There are externally set multi-choice question papers at the end of the course. Career Opportunities/Progression On successfull completion of this course you can progress on to the Advanced Construction Award Level 3 (1 year). Course Cost Information Year 1 Fees Year 2 Fees Additional Costs (after enrolment) Tuition Fee Registration Fee/ Certificate Other course costs: (e.g. Materials, Workshop, Log Books) More fees Fees Dee Fees - All fees quoted are for British / EEA Citizens with settled status who have been resident in an EEA Country for the last 3 years or have exceptional circumstances or exceptional leave to remain. If you are in any doubt as to your status please ask for advice on enrolment. Refund of fees will only be paid in the event the College cancels the course, or if you notify the College of your intention to withdraw from the course 2 weeks prior to the start date. Please note this is a two-year course and arrangements to pay all fees shown in both Year 1 and Year 2 MUST be made at the time of enrolment. This can be done by completing a direct debit or instalment plan arrangement. If for any reason you do not continue with Year 2 of the course, the arrangement for payment of fees for Year 2 will be cancelled. NB Fees shown as additional costs after enroment are payable to the department, and will not be included in this arrangement. Fee Reductions If you are in receipt of an income based qualifying benefit, you may be entitled to a fee reduction on tuition fees only. All other charges as shown above will need to be paid in full. Please remember to bring evidence of entitlement with you when you come to enrol. Rehabilitation of Offenders Please note, to help us look after students and assess risks, you will be asked to declare any unspent criminal convictions when you apply to do a course at Weymouth College. How to Apply and Additional Information You can apply to enrol: By calling in to the Reception/Information Centre situated in Fleet Building at any time. Times of Opening are: 8.15am-8.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.15am-5pm on Fridays. During half terms, Christmas, Easter and Summer breaks, opening times are 8.30am -5.00pm Monday to Friday.
