STCW95 Medical Care On Board Ship (Medicare) About this Course: MCA Approved Aim of Course Intended for seafarers who are designated to take charge of Medical Care on board ship. Validity of Certificate Masters and any person in charge of medical care on a UK flag vessel will be required to undertake refresher training in Proficiency in Medical Care every 5 years. Course Content Knowledge of types of ships medical equipment and stores Diagnosis of medical problems on board ship Provision of medical care to the sick and injured while they remain on board Understanding the various co-ordinated schemes for medical assistance on board Personal Equipment Required First aid certificate(s) Discharge Book Writing materials Please also bring with you Please also bring with you photographic proof of identity such as passportDriving LicenceDischarge Book. Failure to comply with this requirement will lead to a delay in the issue of Certificates Medical Declaration Please read the following and be advised that on arrival at the college you will be issued with a Medical Declaration form for completion. Entry Requirements: Must have received approved training in Medical First aid within the last 5 years, and Have at least 18 months sea-time on a merchant vessel, and Be at least 21 years old Funding Information Most students do not have to pay full tuition fees and many students have their course fees waived completely depending on their age and circumstances. Repayable and non-repayable grants and loans are also available for higher education students. When a course code contains 'EC' this indicates that it is an economic course which in most cases does not attract course fee waivers. Where courses are run over more than one year, the tuition fee shown is for one year only. Fees for subsequent years are subject to review.
