Part Time Social Work : B.A (Hons) Degree in Social Work Levels 4 and 5 Is this course for you? Adults (18+) who wish to pursue a career in the social work arena. The course will equip them with the qualification needed to practice as a social worker in a wide variety of social work areas i.e. Children and Family, Mental Health, Youth Offending, Care Management, Drugs Misuse, Hospital Work, Learning Disability etc. How long is the course? Full Time - 3 years Part Time - 4 years When you will be attending. Full time course is that students attend 3 days per week for first year but are expected to be available for 5 days. Part time attend 2 days per week. In year 2 students are expected to attend more days in college for certain classes. All students on final year are expected to attend full time when at Manchester Metropolitan University. When does the course start? September What's the course about? Year 1 Introduction to Sociology Social Work, Democracy and Government, Introduction to Professional Studies, Human Growth and Life Course, Approaches to Learning Communication Year 2 Professional Studies Social Work Professional Studies, Analysing Organisations, Professional Studies, Law for Social Workers Placement (100) days, Social Work and Social Exclusion, Specialist Election of Mental Health, Disability etc. Year 3 Undertaken at Manchester Metropolitan University, Didsbury Campus on a FULL TIME basis with final 100 days placement and dissertation. Is work experience a necessary part of the course? 2 x 100 days placement experience, in year 2 and one in final year. How will you be assessed? Assignments, Examinations, Practice Portfolio What qualification will you achieve? B.A. (Hons) Social Work awarded by Manchester Metropolitan University What can this course lead to?
