Course Description

Skills for Life Full time 16-18 (ESOL) What does the course involve? Students will study ESOL, numeracy, ICT, citizenship and will try some tasters of vocational courses. What is the qualification and how is it gained? You will be able to take a Skills for Life ESOL qualification when you are ready. How will the course be taught? Students will be taught in small groups, sometimes mixing with other Skills for Life learners within the College. Once a week they will have a tutorial session with their own personal tutor. What skills will be taught? Students will practise speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar. They will also practise academic English and mathematical language, numeracy, ICT and citizenship. What progression routes are available? At the end of the course, it is hoped that students will either progress to a vocational course at the College or on to Higher Education. What should students bring to the first class? Pen, paper and a bilingual dictionary. Are there any other costs involved? No How many weeks will the course run for? 33 Can students join at any time? Yes, until the classes are full.
