This course provides the student with the knowledge and skills that are required for upholding best practice when using veterinary medicines for small animals. Although this is not yet a legal requirement, it equips the candidate to handle veterinary medicines competently. What qualifications will I need? Ideally you will have an interest in andor experience of working with livestock (cattle, sheep and pigs) or wish to extend and develop skills obtained in another field of animal care. What will I be learning about? Planning the administration and disposal of veterinary medicines and equipment. Safe handling of veterinary medicines and their equipment. Methods of administration. Health and safety requirements and other legislation. Supervision of others using veterinary medicines. What is involved? The course will be studied one afternoon a week for four weeks, with external assessments being carried out during week five. Where will it take me? Students may undertake this qualification to complement others within agricultureanimal care areas or undertake further courses for which this is a pre'requisite. What materials are required? Overalls, waterproofs, steel toe capped boots. How will I be assessed? Practical and written tests will take place on the last session. How much will it cost? ?120 Money Matters
