Part Time NVQ Level 4 in Childrens Care, Learning and Development (CCLD) How & what will I learn? This is a level 4 course which will enable learners to progress within their chosen career of child care. It is a course for people who are working with children, young people (0-16) and their families at seniormanagement level. The NVQ 4 is a work based qualification which you achieve by being assessed in the workplace as well as compiling a portfolio of evidence. To facilitate progress there will also be college based support sessions To obtain this qualification you must complete 4 mandatory units and 5 optional units The mandatory units are: Establish and develop working relationships Support policies, procedures and practice to safeguard children and ensure their inclusion and well-being Support programmes for the promotion of children's development Reflect on, review and develop own practice The optional units allow you to choose those that best suit your line of work and job role, such as co-ordinating provision for babies, or evaluating and co-ordinating the environment. Qualifications needed to start: ENTRY IS BY INTERVIEW You should ideally have a Level 3 qualification and be working in a supervisorymanagement position within the child care sector. You will also need to show commitment by successfully completing an interview task What qualification will I gain? You will gain a NVQ 4 in children's Care, Learning and Development which is a Level 4 qualification. As an integral part of your course you will also have the opportunity to use your work to achieve nationally recognised qualifications in Literacy, Numeracy and IT. Progression on completion & career opportunities This qualification offers career progression and professional development for those already in employment. Progression is also possible onto a higher level qualification such as a foundation degree Will I have to take an exam? You will be assessed in the workplace whilst carrying out activities specifically related to the criteria of the qualification. You will also be required to complete a portfolio and this will be continuously assessed by you college assessor. How long does the course last? This is flexible depending on learner progress, but up to 2 years part time. How do I enrol? Complete an application form. You will then be invited to come for an interview with one of our friendly tutors. If you are successful, a letter will be sent to you offering you a place on the course. Take this letter, along with any necessary paperwork to enrol. You can enrol at any of our college sites. TUITION FEES are ?495 (plus ?110 registration) Learners aged 19 and over who are experiencing financial difficulties can apply to the College Learner Support fund for help with some of the additional costs of studying. You can apply for the course at anytime of the year and information sessions and interviews are held regularly from March. Other information to consider Learners should be working on a paid basis for a substantial part of each week with children in a child care setting, ideally in a supervisorymanagement position.
