NVQ Animal Care Level: Level 2 Part-time - you will be expected to complete assignments outside your normal working/training hours. How long is the course/training? Usually between 3 and 7 months. What will I be doing on the course/training? Train to Gain is for people who are employed and already skilled in their field but do not have any level 2 qualifications (equivalent to 5 GCSEs grades A-C). We enrol learners all year round. At the end of this course you will achieve a NVQ2 in Animal Care. The NVQ demonstrates your competence, knowledge and understanding of business tasks and procedures and proves you are able to carry out your job to specific standards. Here is an example of units you may cover for the NVQ2: Provide exercise opportunities for animals Prepare and groom dogs Provide feed and water to animals Control and restrain animals Assist with the movement of animals Load and unload animals for transportation Course/Training Code: To be confirmed Where do I study/train? You will undertake the majority of training in your workplace but there may be some underpinning knowledge sessions held at Bicton College. What are the entry requirements? You must not already hold or be working towards a level 2 qualification or above. What can I do after this course/training? You can progress onto a NVQ3 or you may be able to progress within the company you work for. What key skills will I do? Key skills qualifications are not part of this course but if you would like some help with maths and/or English you may be able to take a Skills for Life course alongside the NVQ at no extra cost. What residential/work experience is there? None specified What faculty is the course/training in? Train to Gain How do I study the course/training and how will I be assessed? Your dedicated College training Officer will visit you at work and carry out assessments in a variety of styles; observing you; asking knowledge questions; setting practical tasks. They will also help you build your portfolio of evidence for your NVQ. What facilities are there? None specified What will the course/training cost me? The course will be free for you and your employer as long as the eligibility criteria are met. Additional costs: Employers are expected to grant learners paid time to train during working hours.
