How to ApplyEnrol Application Form & Reference Form to be returned to Learner Services Course Outline This course is suitable for people who wish to study beauty therapy on a part-time basis during the evening. The qualification gained should help you to embark on a career in this fast growing industry. Profile During the course you will spend part of your evening in the resource room covering the theory aspects of the qualification and part in the College salons working on one another, models and clients. You will cover the following: Skin care Facial massage Hand and foot care Eyelasheyebrow treatments Reception studies (optional unit) Client care Team work Use of resources Assessments continue throughout the course both in practical and theory sessions. Although not compulsory it is recommended that students find some experience in the industry during the course to help them achieve their qualification. During your course there will be opportunities for attending National shows and exhibitions where you can see some of the main wholesalers and manufacturers of equipment and products. Once a year we hold a college show. All students are welcome to attend. You will need to provide your own equipment and overalls, as advised by your tutor. Approximate cost ?120. Additional Information An early application is recommended for this course. An interview for all candidates will be arranged with a member of the teaching team where you will have an opportunity to discuss the course and your individual needs. There will be a Maths and English assessment test at this interview. Funding LSC Remission Available Qualifications Offered (in next Class) NVQ2 Beauty Therapy (This is a full Level-2 qualification) Funding Stream: 22 - Learner Responsive Fees: Tuition: ?250.00, Registration: ?16.00, Materials: ?10.00, Exams: ?49.00 Please Note: These are current course fees. Later courses may be charged at a different rate. Fees quoted are on an individual student basis only. Opportunities Prospects include being employed on a cruise liner, health farm, television, cosmetic companies as a representative, plus many other areas including airlines or self-employment. Further Education opportunities include progression onto NVQ level 3 Beauty Therapy, VTCT Diploma in Aromatherapy or VTCT Diploma in Reflexology. Entry Requirement Specific requirements - Students need to have a genuine interest in Beauty Therapy. Employment in a salon would be useful. Communication skills - An ability to communicate one to one e.g. to a tutor or customer and in a group as part of discussions. Literacy - Minimum Level 1. Reading - Much of the course material is presented in work books. Students need an ability to read and understand these books. Writing - Students will need to produce written assignments. Numeracy - Numeracy skills are required as students will need to work with treatment materials and handle money. Manual dexterity and physical stamina - Students need the skills for fine work e.g. accurate use of an eyeliner pencil or nail varnish brush and there are times when it may be necessary to stand for long periods. Students will need to provide a character reference before or at interview. The offer of a place on this course is dependant upon a satisfactory reference.
