Course Description

The course is designed for those students who have a learning difficulty and is aimed at developing a wide range of work related, personal and interpersonal skills. Through its practical content you will gain a basic understanding of agriculture and its supporting industries, and have the opportunity to build confidence, motivation and greater self esteem through progression and achievement. As part of the course students will also receive tuition in literacy and numeracy, developing the skills they will need to move on to further learning. Entry Requirements Students should be at Entry Level 2. Location Hadlow Course Duration 1 year, 3 days per week. Course Content Recognise a healthy farm animal Prepare animal pens Clean animal housing Weigh farm housing Feed young farm animals Work safely Self profile Prepare for and attend an interview Assessment Method A portfolio of evidence and task based controlled assessment. Progression Routes Successful students can progress into further learning or explore employment opportunities within the industry. Specialist Equipment Needed Steel toe-capped boots, waterproof clothing and Hadlow College jumper and t-shirt.
