Course Description

NCFE Certificate in Work Based Support and Mentoring What does the course involve? You will build a portfolio of evidence to prove what you do in your job. One to one attendance at college is required to check on progress, but this will be at a day and time convenient to you. Usually at 3 to 4 weekly intervals, for about an hour. Some workplace assessment will be required to observe your performance. What is the qualification and how is it gained? Dependent on the type of job you do: NVQ in Business and Administration levels 14, Customer Service levels 2 and 3, Team Leading level 2 and Management levels 3 - 5 are available but must be appropriate to the type of job you do and relate to the degree of responsibility you have in your job. How will the course be taught? Workbased evidence will be required in the form of witness statements, personal statements, work products. Observation and questioning will also be used to assess your competence in your job. What skills will be taught? Learning will take place with regard to developing a good knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the topic of the NVQ, through research and reading. Feedback will also provide an integral learning mechanism. What progression routes are available? The next level NVQ providing your job role is in relation to the progression. Some structured courses are available to enable you to improve your skills before embarking on the next level NVQ. Progression will be reliant on workplace achievement. What should students bring to the first class? Stationery and a lever arch folder. Are there any other costs involved? Registration, certification fees in addition to the tuition fees. How many weeks will the course run for? One year from the start date. Can students join at any time? Yes, although no assessment will take place during July and August.
