Manufacturing Engineering HNC Course Level: Higher level - Higher Education standard Reference Number: QET4BM13/CCP1 Introduction This course is aimed at those wanting to progress into Engineering Management or gain professional recognition both within and outside their company. Similarly, those wanting to progress to a HND, a degree, or eventually incorporated engineer status. Students must have the ability to self motivate and a willingness to learn new skills and techniques. Please do not hesitate to come in and talk to our Advice & Admissions staff about this course. What will be covered in the course? HNC Manufacturing Engineering To gain a HNC, 10 units must be completed (a further six gains a HND). The core consists of five units : - Business Management Techniques - Analytical Methods for Engineers - Engineering Science - Engineering Design - Project Five further units are selected from a list which includes : - Planning & Scheduling Principles - Manufacturing Processes - Advanced Computer Aided Design Techniques - CAD/CAM - Computer Aided Machining - Further Analytical Methods for Engineers - Programmable Logic Controllers - Quality Assurance and Management - Statistical Process Control - Materials Engineering Each Unit is broken down into four independent modules, which are assessed by assignment. BTEC Higher Certificate in Manufacturing Engineering. It is possible to: - Convert this qualification to a HND by completing 6 more units (total 16 units) - Gain entrance to the second year of a three year degree - Progress to professional incorporation by the completion of bridging studies and professional interview How is the course assessed? All modules are assessed by assignment. One of the units is a project. This may be completed as an individual or as a team. It can be college or work based in nature.
