Managing Self and Others in an Educational or Early Years Setting Location: High Melton Attendance: Part-time Hours pw: 3 hours Duration: 6 weeks DayTimes: 22 June (Mondays) 6pm - 9pm Cost: ?245 Managing Self and Others in an Educational or Early Years Setting This six week course is designed for practitioners working in an early years educational setting. This course may also be of interest to people looking to return to education or those that wish to develop further insight and understanding of management in an early years setting. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be entitled to twenty credits from the University of Hull that they can use towards a related higher education qualification if they wish to. Course content Knowledge of how to manage oneself is an important component of both personal and professional development. This course critically assesses the use of a number of management skills and promotes the idea that gaining an understanding of these will not only be personally helpful but will also be an important aid when managing others. By completing this programme you will gain: the ability to critically analyse your own personal management skills in your working environment. a critical understanding of the range of management skills including time management, delegation, prioritisation, listening skills, stress management, assertiveness skills and appraisal. an understanding and knowledge of theories related to the dynamics of team and management skills in the early years sector. The course is delivered one evening a week for six weeks with delegates required to produce a reflective critical incidence log relative to professional experience of managing children or adults in the workplace over a two week period. Successful students will receive a certificate of achievement from the Centre for Professional Studies at University Centre Doncaster and, if they wish to, twenty credits from the University of Hull which could be used towards a related higher education qualification in the future. Entry Requirements This course is open to all interested parties with no formal academic qualifications required. As a result of the nature of this course students will need access to a suitable working environment.
