Part Time Level 3 NVQ Nail Services (Part-time) How & what will I learn? With this hands-on programme you will learn the following aspects of nail technology: v Unit G1 - Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety v Unit G6 - Promote additional products and services to clients v Unit G11 - Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business v Unit BT22 - Enhance the appearance of natural nails using artificial nails systems v Unit BT23 - Maintain, repair and enhance artificial structures v Unit BT24 - Plan, design and provide nail art services to clients v Unit BT25 - Design and create images incorporating nail art techniques This programme will be delivered by tutor input, demonstration, practical sessions, commercial salon work, open learning packages, assignment, assessment and portfolio building. You will specialise in Liquid and Powder and Brisa Gel systems. The brand that we are using within this course is Creative Nail Design (CND) . You will also cover advanced nail art techniques (with liquid and powder), 3D nail art and airbrushing techniques (additional kit required, students are to provide their own airbrush and compressor). Qualifications needed to start You will need to have successfully completed level 2 nail services or level 2 beauty therapy and you will also need to show commitment by successfully completing an interview. Initial Assessment At your interview you will be required to undertake an initial assessment in Literacy and Numeracy. To attend a level 3 course you should achieve at least level 2 on these assessments. Should you not achieve this an informed decision will be made depending on the actual result. What qualification will I gain? Level 3 In Nail Services (nail technician) Progression on completion & career opportunities On successful completion you can work in the industry as a nail technician. You could also pursue a career in cruise ships, teaching and training or salon management. Will I have to take an exam? You will be continuously assessed through observation of practical skills, oral questioning, assignment work and written tests (independent assessments). The assessments will take place when you feel ready, although we do encourage assessment if we feel you have reached the necessary level of competence. How long does the course last? The course is run on a part time basis for 33 weeks starting in September (subject to change). What next? If you are interested in this subject you need to complete an application form and return it to the admissions team, if you are a successful applicant, you will be invited to attend an interview and enrolment session and if you are successful at this stage a place will be offered to you. Our Resources We have a commercial working salon at both our campuses. The program includes induction week followed by tutor input and practical sessions, open learning packages, personal tutorials for extra support and key skills. Whilst studying with us we want to make your time here as enjoyable and trouble-free as possible. Other information to consider v If you are aged between 16-19, this course if free v If you are 19-25 and studying your first level 3 qualification, this course could be free. There are some additional costs which will need to be considered: Nail services equipment kits Tunic top, trousers and black shoes Trade exhibition fees (optional) VTCT lifelong registration (if not already registered) All our courses require enthusiasm, motivation and commitment, you will also be required to do some work outside of college and you must be committed to doing this.
