Course Description

What you will study * The importance of personal development planning * How to be a reflective practitioner * The use of learning logs and online blogs * Identify your preferred learning style(s) and how to adapt to new ways of learning * Action planning/SMART objectives * Personal/professional/academic SWOT analysis * Time management * Negotiation techniques * Effective networking and communication skills How you will learn This is a traditional classroom-based course, incorporating information communication technology (ICT). A wide range of teaching and learning methods such as lectures, workshops, discussions, case studies, practical exercises and tutorials will be used to meet your requirements and link your workplace experience to theory and knowledge. How you will be assessed Assessment will involve producing a portfolio of evidence complete with a reflective statement of 2,500 words (15 credits). Attendance The programme is part-time and runs on Wednesday mornings 9.30 - 12.30. Call 01924 789329 for details of the next course. Emphasis is placed on learning in the workplace as well as in the College environment. Mature applicants (over 21) who do not have the appropriate qualifications should contact the tutor. Applications are welcomed from persons who can demonstrate relevant work experience (including voluntary work) and may be admitted on the basis of non-certificated experiential learning. Claims for Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) and Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) are actively supported.
