Course Description

Awarding Body City & Guilds Course Content The Intermediate Level award is similar to a NVQ Level 2. but does not provide the on site practical experience. The course is entirely college based and will consist of practical projects and related underpinning knowledge taught in a workshop environment. Course Features Designed to prepare people for work in the construction industry. Specifically designed for training in simulated conditions. Provides a progression route to NVQ Level 2. Career Prospects and Progression Employment in the construction industry and progression on to the Advanced Construction Award in Brickwork. Modules Store Materials and Equipment, Erect and Dismantle Basic Working Platforms, Work Efficiently, Brick and Blockwork Walling, Set Out Basic Buildings, Construct Walling Detail Signalling for the Movement of Loads. Method of Assessment Written knowledge questions for individual units. Practical skills tests, an external multiple choice examination and a health and safety test. Course Length 2/3 years part time Time of Delivery Daytime Campus Ammanford Campus Bilingual Provision Students can use Welsh with their tutor Entry Requirements No formal qualifications are required but basic numeracy and communication skills desirable to Intermediate Construction Awards.
