IEE Wiring Regulations 17th Edition Full Version C&G 2381-10 Level 3 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS 7671:2008) Dates: 12 Jan - 23 Mar 10; 10 wks Times: 6.00 p.m. - 9.00 p.m. Day: Tuesday Evening Venue: Cranford Avenue Aim of course This course provides you with the basis for the understanding and application of current wiring regulations used in commercial, industrial and domestic environments. It covers topics such as protection for safety, selection and erection of equipment and inspection and testing to meet the standards of the IEE Wiring Regulations. This course would be of interest to those engaged in electrical installation, design and maintenance. The course is intended for those with a good working knowledge adn understanding of the previous additon of the IEE Wiring Regulations. Entry Requirements Course Details/Contents This course consists of 30 hours of study of the IEE wiring regulations covering the use of BS 7671: January 2008. The sysllabus of the course assumes knowledge of the previous edition of the regulations, as well as basic electrical principles, e.g. ohms law (for cable calculations). The course may be taken by non-electricians who feel that they are on working terms with the previous regulations and are able to handle the electrical principles. A copy of the BS: January 2008 Requirement for Electrical Installation (Red Cover) will be provided . Materials/Text Book Requirements Please note above a copy of BS7671: January 2008 will be provided. Note paper and scientific calculator Study Requirements Some study or learning activity is required for this course beyond the hours of attendance at College, further study may of course be undertaken at the learner's discretion or lecturer's recommendation. Assessment/Examination Details You will be required to sit a City and Guilds 2382-10 multiple choice examination. The exam consists of an open book two hour online test. It is tailored around knowledge of the 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS7671: January 2008) which is all generally covered in the course. Career Opportunties/Progression For a working electrician prossession of this qualification will enhance your career opportunities. On successful completion of this course you could progress onto the City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification (2392-10) and/or City and Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations (2392-20). Refund of fees will only be paid in the event the College cancels the course, or if you notify the College of your intention to withdraw from the course 2 weeks prior to the start date. Fee Reductions If you are in receipt of an income based qualifying benefit, you may be entitled to a fee reduction on tuition fees only. All other charges as shown above will need to be paid in full. Please remember to bring evidence of entitlement with you when you come to enrol.
