HNC Manufacturing / Operations Engineering / Electrical Electronic Level: 4 Location: RH Years: 2 Course Summary The course is specifically designed for people who are considering a career in areas such as manufacturing, mechanical, electrical/electronic engineering, operations and maintenance, the materials or the aerospace industries. This is an academic course focusing on the application of knowledge and understanding and utilising practical skills in a work environment. How will I be assessed? Assignments and coursework are set and assessed accordingly and involve case studies and research activities. How much time will I spend on the course? 5 modules per year part-time. How is the course delivered? Mix of lectures, case studies, lab work, team work, research, use of specialist computer software packages. Who is this course suitable for? People who are considering a career in areas such as manufacturing, mechanical, electrical/electronic engineering. What are mandatory modules or units? Business Management Techniques, Analytical Methods, Engineering Design, Engineering Science and Project. What materials do I have to provide? Specialist books will be recommended on joining the course, scientific calculator. Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required? Edexcel/BTEC Registration Fee (Approx ?160.00). What can I do after this course? Enter employment, apply for promotion if already employed or progress onto higher degree programmes. What careers would this course be useful for? Engineering. Entry Requirements Five GCSE passes with Mathematics and a relevant Science plus Mathematics and Science at A level. BTEC National Certificate or Diploma in Engineering, Science or any related discipline with appropriate N level units; an NVQ Level 3 in Manufacturing Engineering, or a Science related discipline. If you do not have the formal qualifications, but have relevant industrial experience and sufficient knowledge in Mathematics and Science, you may still be able to join the programme. This would need to be discussed with the programme co-ordinator.
