Course Description

HIGHER NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING Who is this course for? This area of engineering remains at the forefront of advances in modern industrial applications. It is at the centre of all communications, computing and sound and vision systems as well as many other modern manufacturing and processing systems. This course has been designed to develop a student's ability in aspects of problems concerned with engineering principles and applications through the systematic use of appropriate techniques for analysing, synthesising and evaluating. PC based software products will be used to reinforce various key principles throughout the course. Core units to be undertaken include: analytical methods for engineers (mathematics) engineering science electrical and electronic principles business management techniques a project Many students upgrade their HNC to an HND by undertaking a one-year part-time conversion course at the College. Alternatively, the HNC provides you with an acceptable entrance qualification to relevant degree courses. It will also assist you when applying for membership of professional bodies. How long is this course for? 2 years, 1 day or 2 evening per week. 1 year programme is also available Attendance Part-Time How will I be assessed? Students will be assessed on a regular basis throughout the programme using a range of appropriate assessment methods such as written and practical assignments, projects, case studies and presentations. What can I do after the course? This course provides entry qualifications to Degree courses in engineering-related subjects. Upgrading the HNC to HND on a part-time basis may give exceptions to some Degree course modules in the first year.
