Health and Social Care Young Apprenticeship School: 14-16 Attendance Type: Part Time Course Level: Level 2 Course Length: Two years Course Schedule: One day a week during school term time 9.00am to 3.00pm. Entry Requirements: You will need to be on target to achieving a combined score of 15 or more in your English, Maths and Science Key Stage three assessment, have a very good record regarding behaviour and motivation, and above average attendance. Academic Progression: The Young Apprenticeship programme provides an excellent springboard for a range of post-16 Level three (Advanced) opportunities including BTEC Nationals, A Levels, and Advanced Apprenticeships, with the opportunity to progress onto Higher Education. Possible careers include nurse, social worker, occupational therapist, doctor, paramedic, midwife, speech therapist, care professional, childcare development officer and many more. Full Description: As a Young Apprenticeship learner you will be required to take part in some work-related learning events outside of normal school term time. Course Description: The Young Apprenticeship (YA) programme is a challenging and exciting opportunity for able, wellmotivated 14-16 year old students with a passion to develop their understanding and skills in a sector in which they have a genuine interest or career aspiration. The course will give you a BTEC First Diploma in Health and Social Care qualification, equivalent to four GCSEs at grades A*-C, and 50 days of work-related learning, giving you a head start in the sector. If you are interested in developing your skills and knowledge across the social care, health care and children's care and development sub-sectors then the Young Apprenticeship (YA) in Health and Social Care may be right for you. The course is broad, encompassing all three sub-sectors: Health care Social care Children's care and development. The projects and assignments you will undertake are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands, and are designed to develop your skills and understanding of the health and social care sector. You will be assessed by a variety of assessment methods, including case studies, assignments, practical assessments and projects.
