Health and Social Care (Level 4) City and Guilds NVQ Level 4 Date: September, January and April Starts Day: TBA Aim of programme To meet the Care Standards Act 2000 enabling experienced practitioners working at a senior level, and care managers, to gain a nationally recognised qualification based on the newly revised national occupational standards To demonstrate initial competence to practice safely, acquire recognition of specialist skills and maintain continuous professional development (CPD) To provide the necessary knowledge requirements for NVQ 4 Health and Care Entry Requirements Programme DetailsContents The programme is designed as a flexible programme, typically achieved within 9 to 12 months. You will be required to attend one induction session and throughout the programme, workshops to cover the knowledge requirements of this award. Health and Social Care NVQ 4 has four mandatory units: HSC41 - Use and develop methods and systems to communicate, record and report HSC42 - Contribute to the development and maintenance of healthy and safe practices in the working environment HSC43 - Take responsibility for the continuing professional development of self and others HSC45 - Develop practices which promote choice, well-being and protection of all individuals plus four optional units. There is an additional level four unit for continuing professional development (CPD) only and this does not form part of the overall qualification structure AssessmentExamination Details The candidate must be able to provide evidence of consistently performing in a job to the required standards and to demonstrate the knowledge, understanding and skills to be able to perform in a range of contexts. There are no examinations. Progression The new Health and Social Care NVQs are more accessible awards allowing greater transferability between the sectors and specialisms. If you are in any doubt as to your status please ask for advice on enrolment. Refund of fees will only be paid in the event the College cancel the course, or if you notify the College of your intention to withdraw from the course 2 weeks prior to the start date. Fee Reductions If you are in receipt of an income based qualifying benefit, you may be entitled to a fee reduction on tuition fees only. All other charges as shown above will need to be paid in full. Please remember to bring evidence of entitlement with you when you come to enrol. You can apply to enrol:- By calling in to the ReceptionInformation Centre situated in Fleet Building at any time. Times of Opening are: 8.15am-8.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.15am-5pm on Fridays. During half terms, Christmas, Easter and Summer breaks, opening times are 8.30am -5.00pm Monday to Friday. Rehabilitation of Offenders Please note, to help us look after students and assess risks, you will be asked to declare any unspent criminal convictions when you apply to do a course at Weymouth College. Please note Courses are operated on a minimum number of students and may, on rare occasions, be subject to cancellation. In the event of cancellation any fees paid will be refunded in full. Entry Requirement No formal qualifications are required. However, this NVQ is designed for those with a supervisory or management role within the health and social care sector and is equally applicable to the independent, voluntary and statutory sector services.
