Course Description

Foundation Modern Apprentice Vehicle Body & Paint Operations What you will study The course follows the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Technical Award, the NVQ, the Induction unit and Essential skills which forms the Modern Apprenticeship framework. The units delivered include: Level 1 - Working safely and effectively during vehicle body repair operations - Body materials - Vehicle body repair technical information - Forming, joining and measuring - Basic body repairs - Moving loads and vehicle jacking. Level 2 - House keeping - Health and safety - Working relationships - Removing and fitting non-welded non-structural body panels - Removing and replacing non-structural body panels - Repairing non-structural body panels The Induction unit - Including employers rights and responsibilities (ERR) Essential Skills - Application of Number, IT and Communications all at level 1 are an integral part of all part-time courses at Llandrillo and will therefore form part of your programme of study. National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) These are nationally recognised qualifications that demonstrate the holder's competence to do a job to a national standard. An NVQ is a practically based qualification which assesses skills. You will demonstrate your skills and knowledge by collecting evidence of your work. This evidence is usually presented in a portfolio (however your approved centre may use an alternative method). Your assessor will advise you on how to generate, collect and present your evidence. You will also undertake IMI Awards set ??-on-line?? multiple-choice tests. Who the course is for Those that have already gained employment and knowledge and wish to achieve a qualification that demonstrates competence in the work place and those undertaking an Apprenticeship with an NVQ requirement. Apprenticeships provide work-based training to young people and adults who want to learn new skills and gain qualifications while working. How you will study The course is delivered through practical demonstrations which are supported with realistic working tasks, where the emphasis is on students demonstrating competence skills. Underpinning knowledge for each unit is given on a lecture based mode of delivery, where students are encouraged to produce assignment work and use the internet whenever possible. Electronic delivery is also part of the teaching/learning process. How you will be assessed Assessment is ongoing and assessed internally; unit theory assessment is undertaken via written tests and also online. Multi-choice questioning will be used for online testing. Practical assessments are also an integral part of each unit. Qualification Title Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Technical Award level 1 and 2 in Body Repair Course Length Two year part time, day release. The selection panel will consider each applicant?? s existing academic and vocational experience, plus the enthusiasm and the determination to succeed. Your Options After the Course Once you've completed the course you can move on to a full Foundation Apprentice Programme at level 2.
