Course Description

What you will study You will study a range of theor:etical and work-based components which will enhance your understanding of working with children in the early years. Modules cover such elements as child development, working with parents, legal and professional responsibilities, leadership and management and play-based learning. You will have the opportunity to choose a topic for a research project which will contribute to your knowledge of a specific area. Your Course Structure: You will complete Level 4 during the first three semesters, and Level 5 by the end of the final three semesters. How you will learn: Through a range of methods including workshops, lectures, seminars, group work and tutorials. How you will be assessed: Modules are mainly assessed by means of assignments, but some modules include portfolios, presentations or reports. Entry Requirements: A Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject such as BTEC National Diploma, Cache Diploma, NNEB, NVQ Level 3, Level 3 Diploma in Playwork, Level 3 Teaching Assistants. Other qualifications may be accepted, such as a level 2 qualification, depending on experience gained in the sector. Attendance: One day per week (expected to be Mondays from 10am to 4 pm from September 2012).
