For further information and help with fees, please contact Teesside University on 01642 218121 Course Overview This is an exciting new higher level education qualification for those working or intending to work with young people in a range of settings. These may include Connexions, Career Guidance, Youth and Community Work, Education Welfare, Learning mentors and the voluntary sector. This is an award of Teesside University. Aim of this course Some of the main topics that you will cover are How young people develop and the influences on their lives How to build effective relationships with young people-to support, develop and guide them Ethical and legal considerations in working with your people The professions and organisations who work with young people their purpose, approach and ways of working How to work with other professions and agencies in a multi-agency way. There is also a work based learning module to be completed each year. Course modules What are the entry requirements? You will need to have a National Qualification Framework (NQF) level 3 qualification or equivalent to start. You must be employed or working as a volunteer, within the sector. All applicants will be interviewed How will I learn? You will learn through tutor-led sessions, workshops, seminars and tutorials. There are also two residential weekend sessions each year. When will I be expected to be in college? Attendance will be Mondays 2pm- 8.30pm. How will I be assessed? Examining body: TU You will be assessed through a variety of ways task based assignments, research based assignments, presentations and by leading seminars and workshops. What if I need support? The College provides a safe and up-to-date working environment with many sources of information available in resource-based learning centres. Where possible, we will provide additional learning support as you need it and discuss your progress through tutorials. Further study This course can lead onto other qualifications, such as a B.A Honours Degree in Youth Studies andor further professional and vocational qualifications in a range of areas such as Careers Guidance, Youth and Community Work, Education, Youth Justice and Social Work.
