Type: Part Time Foundation Degree in Engineering Design (Electronics) Length: Can be 1 or 2 years Location: Darlington College Academic Year: 2009/10 Costs Delivered in partnership with Teesside University. For further information and help with fees, please contact Teesside University. Course Overview This is an award of Teesside University delivered in partnership with Darlington College. The study of higher level engineering concepts and theory which are directly related to modern engineering practice. Aim of this course The Foundation Degree in Engineering Design has been designed with input and co-operation from employers to meet the demand for highly skilled people who can apply their subject knowledge to the workplace. Course modules What are the entry requirements? Relevant industrial experience will allow you to enter the first year of the programme. A higher qualification such as HNC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or HNC in Mechatronics may allow entry direct to the second year of the programme. How will I learn? You will take part in class work, practical work and transfer skills from your industrial experience.You will be expected to complete several industry related case studies which will involve working at home approx 1-2 hours per week.Traditional study is developed through discussion with fellow engineering undergraduates to identify common problems and develop appropriate solutions whilst also gaining knowledge of the appropriate subject content. When will I be expected to be in college? Attendance is Wednesdays 9.00am - 5.30pm. How will I be assessed? Examining body: TU The majority of the work will be assessed by case studies with some phase tests and assignments. There will be some end exams in line with Teesside University. What if I need support? The College provides a safe and up-to-date working environment with many sources of information available in resource-based learning centres. Where possible, we will provide additional learning support as you need it and discuss your progress through tutorials. Further study Progression to final year BSc Hons Electrical & Electronic Engineering or HNC Instrumentation control Engineering at Teesside University. Career progression An engineering discipline which would require a high level of problem solving ability and the coordination of multiple tasks in a managerial capacity.
