SB IMI DIP VEHICLE MAINTENANCE & REPAIR Code: 8407/1A COURSE DURATION: 36 Week(s) COURSE DATES: 11 September 2009 to 02 July 2010 MODE OF ATTENDANCE: PT DAY COURSE RUNS: TUE TIME: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM These are the qualifications for anyone working in the motor industry. There are two different levels, each one a year long. The length of your programme will depend on your previous knowledge and experience. Most new mechanics study with us for 3 years. All courses are endorsed by the IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry), the industry's leading professional organisation. Entry Requirements There are no formal entry requirements, but you should be aged 16 or over and be employed in the motor industry. Course Content This course leads to a Level 3 qualification which provides a technical certificate/diploma which underpins an Advanced Modern Apprenticeship. Subjects covered include: Year 1 and 2 (Technical Certificate) Motor Vehicle servicing and inspection Basic Engineering Skills Motor vehicle systems (engines, suspension, steering, transmission, electronics etc) Health and safety Working relations Year 3 (Technical Diploma) Fault diagnosis and repair on complex mechanical and electronic systems coupled with the overhaul of individual components. Examples of technology covered: CAN-Bus Networks Common Rail Diesel Injection EOBD Engine Management Engine Measurement & Repair Method of assessment Assessment by a series of theoretical and practical assignments coupled to computer based multi-choice tests.
