Early Years Foundation Degree (Wolverhampton University) Course Level: Higher level - Higher Education standard Reference Number: QHS4TE01BAPHE Introduction This is a sector endorsed Foundation Degree for people who have experience of working in an early years setting and who want to become a senior practitioner. It also provides you with a progression route to the final year of an honours degree which, in turn, may lead to Early Years Professional Status or Qualified Teacher Status. What will be covered in the course? The Foundation Degree consists of 12 modules over two years, including: Child development, Inclusion, Mathematical Development, Physical and Creative Development, Management in Early Years, Safeguarding Children, Socio-emotional Impact of Health Issues, Research and Pedagogical Issues. Early Years Sector Endorsed Foundation Degree How is the course assessed? 100% course work through assignments, presentations, projects and work-based assessments. Additional costs None. Attendance and additional study hours 1pm-9pm, plus occasional days for specific modules First year students for 201011 will study at college on a Tuesday. Further information Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands. The foundation degree is designed to open up routes for those wishing to study for an honours degree which, in turn, can lead to gaining Early Years Professional Status or Qualified Teacher Status. You will qualify for positions as senior practitioners or nursery managers. Entry Requirement A relevant Level 3 qualification. A minimum of two years post-qualifying experience within the Foundation Stage Curriculum. You will need to be working with children 0-8 years for at least two days per week for the duration of the course. This is a work based course and a number of assignments require you to be working in a post where your manager will allow you to undertake and evaluate small-scale projects.
