Course Description

Diploma in Counselling L IV - CSDP12AL Is the course for me? This exciting and very successful course aims to develop counselling skills and includes 100 hours supervised placement. The course aims to develop counsellors who are reflective practitioners and to develop an understanding of the person-centred approach. The course contact hours may at BACP's discretion, be counted towards meeting part of the criteria for individual accreditation as a practitioner. What will I learn? Students study a variety of units including theory of counselling, counselling skills, professional issues, counselling in a diverse society, counselling specialisms and personal development & placement issues. There are two compulsory residential weekends, one in 2010 the other in 2011. The cost will be ?140 for each residential weekend which will include accommodation and meals. This is not included in the cost of the course and will be invoiced separately. The course will run from 3.30 -9.00 pm on Wednesdays. How will I be assessed? You will be assessed via Internal and External assessments involving self, peers and also tutor assessment. What can I do after the course? This Professional Qualification will enable you to work as a Counsellor. You may also consider studying a post-graduate degree.
